Meet Denise Mosley Thompson, affectionately known as Denise, serves as the Children’s Ministry Director at The Oasis Church Ministry. With over 13 years of dedicated experience, Denise brings a vibrant and nurturing presence to our children's programs, ensuring that each child feels safe, loved, and excited to learn about Jesus.
Denise’s journey into ministry began at the age of 20 when she stepped up to fill a need in a kid’s church program. Although she never initially saw herself as a teacher, the rewarding experience of working with young children captured her heart and has sustained her passion for over a decade. Her commitment to inspiring and nurturing future generations is evident in everything she does.
Her primary goal as the Children’s Ministry Director is to create a creative and inviting atmosphere where children are safe and excited to learn about Jesus. Denise believes in the power of creativity to engage children's focus and enhance their learning experiences. She loves decorating and taking on projects, which she incorporates into her classroom activities to bring lessons to life.
Denise’s vision is to teach children that life can be challenging but Jesus loves them unconditionally. She aims to inspire children to delve deeper into the Bible, beyond the well-known stories of Noah’s Ark and Jonah and the whale, to understand the complexities and faith journeys of biblical figures like David, Gideon, and Moses. Denise is committed to ensuring that her students are well-versed in the stories of Ruth, Deborah, and other significant figures, equipping them with a strong foundation of faith.
One of her most memorable experiences was with a child who she initially thought wasn’t engaged with her lessons. However, an encounter at a local dollar store revealed the profound impact she had made when the child enthusiastically greeted her and shared that he regularly discussed what he learned in class at home. This moment reaffirmed Denise’s belief in the importance of her work and the lasting impact it has on young lives.
